A traditional quinta in the hills near Lagos, Western Algarve, Portugal
In the Western Algarve, a land of persistent summer sun and mighty winter rains (that the locals moan about when they go on to long, but miss dearly when they fail to come) , rainbows are common - double rainbows only slightly less so - and from our high vantage point we often see the whole arc. Comically, the pot of gold appears to be smack in the middle of the abandoned farm in the valley where some insolvent foreign dreamers have planned a future golf course. Who knows, given the Western Algarve's new governmental focus on luxury accommodation and high class facilities, they may find their pot of gold yet...
