A traditional quinta in the hills near Lagos, Western Algarve, Portugal
The part of the ocean seen from the house is the lagoon at the end of Meia Praia beach. On windy days surfers' kites race across the sky over it. To get to the beach takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on your degree of hurry. Many guests, we have found, are in little hurry and in fact spend more time around the pool then at the beach. Even though Meia Praia is nowhere near as crowded as the Mediterranean beaches (in fact it is unbelievably quiet even in the high season), the peaceful mood reigning at the quinta appears to deplete many guests of the urge to go elsewhere, leaving them content to just enjoy where they are.
