A traditional quinta in the hills near Lagos, Western Algarve, Portugal
Another arrangement, with burgundy set central. The floor is laid with schist (Xisto de Barranco like all the terraces around the house), a type of stone often used in medieval castles and monasteries for its pleasant natural look and unique isolating qualities. Unlike marble or tiles, a schist floor is never cold to the feet - as it is never too hot in summer. This is due to the layered, flaky crytal structure of this type of stone, similar to slate, but much softer.
The round room to the left is currently in use as dining room, with a round table seating six comfortably; eight may fit if they truly love each other.
