A traditional quinta in the hills near Lagos, Western Algarve, Portugal
Spring comes early to the property. The first almond blossoms start to show in mid-November, with the onset of the rains. But it is only in December and January that blossoms become abundant, and the scores of almond trees young and old spread their deep sweet, almost hypnotic perfume over the hillside.
Excellent almonds, tasty and full bodied, may be collected around the property year round. Feel free to pick them up in any quantity. So do the animals.
